Ok then, time for a few last words about the Harry Potter series before going back to comics and comic book movies.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 7
With a content smile he closed the last volume and replaced next to its older siblings on his bookshelf, smirking a little at the book's pristine condition compared to the first one's marked form.
He surveyed all seven books together. The experiment had been a success. His understanding and appreciation of the scope of the tale was now greater than before. It was with pride and happiness that he displayed the collection in his room.
And so, with this part of the experience over, until he would choose to do it again, there was but a few things left to do.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 6
Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince is kind of tricky to write about. On the one hand I really like the book for pretty much the same reason as most of the other books. But on the other it kind of feels like just a bridge between OOTP and the last book and I have very few topics to pick from it. And that's one of the two official reasons why I'm late with this post, the other being that I've been busy and away.
So I tried to come up with some other topic besides the once that stood out the most to me since they're very fanboy biased topics to me personally, even if they are very prominent in this book. When that didn't work I said screw it and just decided to rant about Severus Snape and shipping.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 5
You know what I just watched?
A preview clip for the final Harry Potter movie. It's just a few months away people. But before I'll experience that grand nerd event I'll have moved, seen my latest second cousin get baptized, taken a trip to and from USA (Logan and Las Vegas to be specific) and hopefully I'll have read through the last two books in the series. But that's in the future, a concept which some say doesn't actually exist but that's an entirely different discussion.
At this point in time I'll be talking about Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix. Possibly my favourite book in the series, at least as far as I can recall.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 4
You know, it's actually rather strange. There is so much stuff that happens in Goblet of Fire and yet I've had some major issues coming up with what I want to focus on for this post. One would think that between all the harrowing tasks, the expansion (for the reader) of the magical world, forward momentum in the romance department and first official character death I'd have tons of shit to say.
Actually I do have tons of shit to say about the book, but I've noticed that I prattle on quite a lot when I write so I try to focus on something. So I've decided to go about it like this. I'll give a short rundown of my thoughts about the book and then I'll move on to dicuss something that I really should talk about in one of these reviews.
That said, let's get to it.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 3
Reading it again I've come to realise that Prisoner of Azkaban (PoA) is one of my favourite books in the series. This is mostly because of a unique story aspect that seperates it from the other entries. You see, whereas Voldemort is the big bad in all the other books, via his direct actions or people following his orders, he is nowhere to be found in PoA except for nightmares and stories. That opens up the question of who is going to play the role as the big bad of this book. Luckily there are quite a few options so that everybody can be happy.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 2
When I used to be a member of a swedish Harry Potter fan community, before the website got shut down due to illegal use of the hogwarts name, I was often confounded that pretty much everybody would put Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets at the bottom of their list when asked how they'd rank the various books. The other books had different ranks depending on the person but CoS almost always got ranked last.
As I always thought that it was at least superior to Philosopher's Stone I never quite understood why people ranked CoS as the least great one. It wasn't until my recent read through of it, now that I can see it with more experienced eyes, that I can understand why this is/was the case.
I still don't agree with the assessment that it should ranked last though.

MOVIE REVIEW: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1
As one might guess from the previous post I am a fan of the Harry Potter book series. So one might think that I'm an equally big fan of the movie series based on said book series. Long answer is that I think that the first two movies were good but not great. The third and fourth movies sucked. They sucked hard. At that point I had all but given up on the movies pleasing my, probably too high, expectations. Then along came David Yates to direct the last four installments in the franchise.
The way I saw the fifth and sixth movies were much less of a spectacle compared to the previous four that I had seen with large groups of friends. I saw them alone some time after they had opened up at the cinema and found that, to my surprise, not only were they really good movies they were good adaptations of the novels as well.
Which, after a long story, brings us to the subject of this review. Yates' third movie in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Harry Potter Retrospective Part 1
He rached out and pulled the book out from the back of the shelf. It hadn't been used in quite some time but the marks it wore showed that this had not been the case in the past. The cover had scratches and the corner edges had become dull. Inside the book a number of pages had spots of unknown origin on them and an entire chapter consisted of loose pages. Otherwise the book was in readable condition.
As cynism had marked his once naive soul it was with caution that he opened the book.
And then he smiled.
The magic was still there.

The Swedish Nerd and A Staple of his Childhood
Two days ago the first official trailer for the final installments of the Harry Potter film franchise. It's a good trailer. Plenty of big bombastic scenes with the heroes looking desperate, large amounts of fire, a dragon, armies of wizards and witches rushing into battle and plenty of confrontations between Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). But it wasn't any of the larger than life special effects or dramatic scenes or epic music that got to me. It was these two tag lines.
The Finale of the Worldwide Phenomenon
The Motion Picture Event of a Generation
More specifically it's the words Finale and Generation. It just sort of dawned on me that I'm part of that generation that's refered to there and that this will probably be the last big thing regarding Harry Potter. It was just a bit of a surreal moment for me.
